Prof. Dr. Matthew Prasad earned his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering from Allahabad Agricultural Institute, University of Allahabad. He completed Master of Technology degree in Agriculture Process Engineering from Food & Agricultural Engineering Department of IIT, Kharagpur. He also earned his Ph. D. degree from IIT, Kharagpur. He developed Modified Atmospheric Packaging for apples from perm-selective gas-barrier polymer films. He is a recipient of Jawaharlal Nehru Award of ICAR (Govt. of India). He has worked for about 14 years on post-harvest management of temperate fruits particularly on storage, processing, value addition and packaging. He has about 30 years of professional experience. He has served in Duncan Agro-industry Ltd, Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institute and UPDASP in various capacities viz., Asstt. Engineer, Asstt. Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Head, Dean, Director Research, Director Extension, State Technical Cordinator, Project Director, Hill Agriculture Development. He has been Member of various committees of SAUs, UPCAR, ICAR. He also completed a short term International Course on Research & Development in Post-harvest Biology and Technology from the Institute of Technology and Storage of Agricultural Products, Volcani Centre, Agriculture Research Organization, Bet Dagan, Israel. His areas of interest include development of high value products from fresh horticulture produce and from agricultural waste. He has special interest in creative writing and documentary film making on agriculture and conservation of natural resources.
